Disaster Management Projects for std X and IX 2013-14



Std :10                          Disaster Management Projects
Topics :
1.Role of Govt/Non.Government functionaries in your locality  in disaster management.
Interview of any two of the following:
Senior District Magistrate , Additional district Magistrate, MP,MLA, Head of NGO working on disaster management, Police inspector,  elected representatives, home guard personnel, NCC Commandant in the school, Municipal commissioner, School Principal who worked on disaster management .
Suvery – atleast 20 persons – on disaster management
2.Generating awareness on disaster Management
Create posters, pamphlets, skits and visit near by a slum or to your juniors in your school / other school conduct the program on disaster management –any thing related to their region.
3.Preparation of models of disaster Resilient structures
Make a layout of models based on the structural improvement in buildings in a rural / urban regions.  Small models should be made by the students and photos of that should be attached.
4.Pocket Guide on First Aid
Prepare a guide on First aid for fractures, poisoning, cuts and burns heat and cold wave and other threats found in your regions.
Choose awareness campaign strategy for either senior citizens or illiterate people


5.Institutional case study on disaster Response
Visit local NGO/Red Cross/Voluntary your organizations like Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, National Cadet Corp (NCC), Bharat Scouts and Guide etc., prepare a case study on how the agencies played a major role in disaster response.
6.Communication facilities for disaster Management
Choose any one method of mass communication- Radio/television/ Ham radio and work of Indian Meteorological department
7.Preparation of disaster contingency plan
Prepare a contingency plan wither for your school / village / home.  The plan should be based on actual survey of your area.  The plan prepared should consist of the following maps, inventory of resources available and a seasonality calendar highlighting the seasons prone to various hazards prevalent in your local area.
Social map, Resource map, vulnerability map.
8.Case study analysis
Choose any one disaster from the past and make analysis related to the cause, trend, changes, effects, success and failure of the rescue measures. Learning out of that disaster to humanity.

Ø Preparing a First aid guide for your school and awareness on first aid among the students or a community(slum)

Ø Std IX students may also use manual writing method.
Ø Std X students must submit in the printed form.
